I looked straight into my fears
Walked right into them
Stretched out my hands
And felt my hairs rise
And thought I would die
Then in hysteria
I grabbed them with my sweaty hands
And dragged them outside
To play
I soaked in my sadness
Resigned to its darkness
Stared into nothingness
And felt a hole in my heart
As I drowned in grief
Then on my last breath
I let out a loud wail
And commanded the sun
To clear the grey skies
And warm my heart again
I shrank in my shame
Hunched my shoulders
And crawled through its shadows
To cover my nakedness
As I questioned my worthiness
Then in a moment of madness
I ran out naked
Uncaged my fiery spirit
And danced
Without a care in the world
Perhaps
Fear, sadness, shame
Are not barriers
But portals
For us to walk through
And blossom
To our fullest potential
