When I Lived Out the Life of my Dreams

And when I lived out the life of my dreams, it was not grand. It happened in small moments, made up by small decisions.

When I lived out the life of my dreams, it was just another Monday. I was seated in a random, kawaida matatu. Heading to Kisii.

When I lived out the life of my dreams. The sun was shining, as it does on other days. Students were reporting back to school, with no hint of excitement on their faces.

When I lived out the life of my dreams. The matatu driver stopped by the highway and to my shock, retrieved some sambazas to carry excess passengers

When I lived out the life of my dreams. Nothing was special about the day, yet everything was special in my eyes. Life continued as it does, but my reality was like a dream.

When I lived out the life of my dreams. I stared out the window, straight ahead into foreign lands I would be stepping foot in for the first time. And felt home.

When you realize the basic things are not basic to everyone and you start appreciating everything

We keep chasing the dream, and forget to savour today, forgetting that the wonderful tomorrow is shaped by the experiences and decisions of today and every day. Stop and smell the flowers.
